Reach out to Web 2.0

By vishalsood - Posted on 20 May 2008

image I have been observing the Web 2.0 world and I am amazed at how powerful it is. It allows to you reach out like never before, it lets you be creative about the way you reach out and most importantly it lets you assess your impact.

In this post, I would like to commend Sarah Lacy on how she harnessed the power of Web 2.0. Sarah recently released a book - Once You're lucky, Twice You're good. I haven't read the book but can't wait to lay my hands on it. Here is what I think made a difference:

1. Blog - Sarah has a blog, which I love reading. It has great perspective on Web 2.0 and she used her blog to create a buzz about the book. This a great practical lesson for anyone trying to use Web 2.0 in a constructive way. It is not easy but in almost all her posts, she alludes to phrases from her book. Outcome - she surely has be interested with all buzz.

2. Twitter - Twitter has so many hooked on to it. Sarah kept everyone involved through her Twitter page with regular updates. This gives you a feeling that you are just a part of the whole thing and you always want know what happens next with her and the book. Needless to say, I follow her on twitter.

3. TechCrunch - She got so much buzz about her book that Michael Arrington actually hosted a  small comment contest where the best 10 comments would get signed copies of the book. The post had 226 comments. I think that might be a record for any TechCrunch post. I haven't seen any posts in 2008 with higher comment count from TechCrunch.

These are just some direct ways through which she reached out to people but there may be many excited souls like me who have blogged about her book ;). Hail Web 2.0!
